Read, the ignorance hunter

Hi kid, i see you have some books there, well welcome to the Joy of reading, the blogg made for guys like you with appetite for knowledge, my name is Jan Calderon and i'm also a curious mind, that is why i decided to make this fun exercise to comment about things i have read, hoping that you can join me with some of the few funny facts i find in books.

what? read is hard for you ? well my friend that's not a problem that communication can't resolve.
I actually had my own problems with reading but it was because i didn't try, after i did a whole new world opened to me; that is what is wonderful about reading, all the things you can learn about everything, don't worry, i will guide you through the path of reading, follow me.

When i was a middle school junior i focused in the wrong things Tv, video games, etc...
and i didn't like to read, it was a problem for me to do an assignment  because i didn't understand what i was supposed to do, and so on i grew up being intimidated by the books even when i knew i was what people call "smart" this days, by the end of my senior middle school year i realized i had to stop with that fear and laziness, and go beyond, because i knew i was capable of doing great things, and i couldn't bear being limited by such a thing, so i decided to start reading.

At first it was a challenge to me because of my inexperience, it was very difficult but, i knew  i couldn't give up, not because of my parents or school or friends but because of me, i knew it was a very important thing to know, and that it would help me in my future. Since i started, i practiced everyday applying that words.

About three weeks later i couldn't stop reading, it was that funny that i stopped wasting my time watching too many television, and i actually learn it was just as entertaining and much more educative, in that time, my ambitions to become a scientist started rising, so i needed to fill my curiosity therefore i chose my next target as science books; four years later i'm still reading and enjoying it as before, and prepairing myself for entering one of the most prestigeous colleges in North America and in the World.

Now that i've finished my story let me give you a few hints of how to start in the marvelous world of reading.

First- Choose a text that you find interesting, the fact of enjoying it is a very essential step
you can look at the cover, it could give you a lead of what the book is about. Going to your local library is a very good way of finding new reading material, you can ask to your book-keeper for what you might be interested in. There is a large amount of subjects and genderes you can choose from, if you like suspense and mistery like me, you might look for the crime section, if you like dragons and vikings you might look for medieval literature.

Second- visualize the words, it may seem something very difficult but if you practice that skill you'll find your reading much more easier.
It doesn't matter if you delay too much doing it, it is very helpful and it will be shortcut for the future so keep practicing.

Third- Read regularly, as any other activity you do is necessary to practice, or you will feel "rusty".
As i told you i kept reading everyday everytime i could, it's not necessary to spend 4 hours a day reading, you can just take 15 minutes a day to take a look of the pages, find out what's happening it might interest you.

Fourth- Take a break, yes you heard me, any activity you do is good but you also need to rest.
Eyes are muscles and they can get wasted too, just like when you go to the gym and lift some weights you need to get your arms rest or they won't function anymore.

Fifth- Take initiative, of you think you are ready try reading a little bit faster but do not exceed your limits it will just be a waste of time.
Generally good readers learn to improve their speed by their own but it's because they're not harsh and they focus in understanding it, if you think you may be able to improve your speed too then go ahead and focus you could try this for different books to see how much you have improved.

Now let me show you how did i start so you can have some lead too.

First- i like mystery and puzzles the most, so i decided to read The return of Sherlock Holmes.
This famous detective entertained me with his fomidable adventures for a long time and he still does.

Second- visualize it, it was very helpful to me when i finally did it.

Ironically i had to use a plate of television it was the best version of the detective.

Trird- Read regularly, when i started i knew it was funny but i had'nt have the skills so it took me about a week to get used to it and i finished that book in the following week.

Fourth- take a break, i think it's not necessary to explain this step but if you want to; i took a relaxation day, when i stopped reading and spent some quality time with my family.

Fifth-take initiative, thanks to that i am able to read a book in less than a day and i'm still trying to improve my speed.

Thanks and don't forget to do some reading
